Feedback and PPD session

In PPD class, we read our feedback of toolbox class and did some research of the undergraduate course.

Firstly, I’m going to talk about the feedback part. We showed our feedback to our classmate and shared with them our feeling in a lovely postcard and did some illustration on it as well.

It’s helpful when we are looking at each other’s feedback, we could be clearer about the reason why we got different feedback. I have seen other’s feedback before the course. But in that course, I share my feedback with a friend who got a totally same degree with me, so that the contrast becomes ambiguous. I should exchange with a different one in the next time.

Anyway, I got a nice and lovely illustration from my friend–shivika, she gave me a postcard with a big “GREAT JOB” and a cute blue bird illustration. She also said her really love my painting, I felt very happy with that.

Except for the feedback, we also search a lot of information about the course we will enter in in the future, we should choose five courses in three different pathways. What I’m interested most is the design pathway because I always want to be a designer. My first chose is womenswear, this course meets my original vision of future. However, though I felt that it might be the best chose, I still begin to consider about costume and photography.

The reason why I pay attention to fashion photography is because I like take photo in my daily life, and I also like some interesting short films. But I hesitated about it is because I find in the teamwork, fashion photography could not affect most of the picture, there are a lot of parts would be taken by designer or make-up artist.

Costume is my second chose after the womenswear, I like watching film. Except for the reason of costume itself, it’s also related my worry about fashion industry. Because though I’m studying fashion now, I’m still confused about fashion industry in the modern world, is this really bring some good thing for people or just create an unrealistic and harmful dream. The pollution, The Consumerism…… There are a lot of questions about fashion industry. Costume seems simpler and focused on something stabler.

But all in all, I think I still tend to choose womenswear. I think the work of womenswear is more individually and flexible. Costume is designed for a specific character, that’s the reason I felt it’s stabler, but it seems don’t have a close relationship with fashion, it’s different from my first vision, one of the biggest reasons why I’m studying in iisf now is that I really want to know about fashion itself, which is such a strange and unpredictable thing. I also considered about menswear and Fashion Visual Merchandising and Branding, which are about design as well, I think things will becomes potential and interesting when it meets “design”, so I don’t get bored of these courses, but I still want to achieve my first vision. In my opinion, the creativity of garment itself is one of the main part and foundation of fashion. On the other hand, in my personal experience, I’m usually easier to be inspired my women (maybe it’s just because I’m a women), so my first chose would still be womenswear.
